Book Description
Carolina hates her name, feels stifled by the mores of the mining town where she lives and fears the superstitious customs of her Italian family. As she 'comes of age' in this oppressive environment, she aspires to the 'other' world that she knows exists outside the city limits. Set in the thirties and forties, THE LAST BUS TO HILLERY becomes a metaphor for her wants and desires.
