Book Description
Noted travel author Jane Ockershausen once again has provided the short-on-time traveler with a collection of day trips-this time through history. From prehistory to modern times, One-Day Trips through History directs travelers more than 200 historical landmarks, museums, Indian reservations, colonial churches, parks, government buildings, historic homes, taverns, towns, battlefields, and industries-all within 150 of Washington, D.C. Whether you live in Washington or the surrounding area, or are just visiting, Ockershausen's One-Day Trips through History introduces a variety of trips to allure all ages. She offers an unique approach to viewing the history of the Mid-Atlantic region, telling you not only how to navigate through the past, but how to explore it. Ockershausen will take you to authentic taverns to have a meal, or to a turn-of-the-century railroad to take a ride on a steam engine, making it possible not only to view history, but to experience it.
