Editorial Reviews
Book Description
This fully revised, illustrated text traces the origin of the Gypsies in India and their journey westward until their arrival on the shores of the Mediterranean at Constantinople. Included is information about the Gypsies' path to the shores of the Thames and a look at their distant relatives who stayed in India, and those who stopped on the way west and still live as nomads in Persia and neighboring countries. Presenting both widely accepted and controversial theories, this is an authoritative survey of the history of the Gypsies.
