The Interregnum has been interpreted variously as a conspiracy of rich ill-intentioned men and as a subterranean rumbling within the whole frame of society. ‘Into Another Mould' takes up a number of significant themes about a period which continues to attract the attention of historians, who have in recent years tended to concentrate on the causes, at the expense of the course and consequence, of the troubles of the 1640s and 1650s. This fully revised and updated second edition includes two new chapters.

The intention is to stimulate interest and to offer guidance through some of the thickets of confusion and controversy which have grown up as an effect of the historiographical disputations of revisionist and post-revisionist researchers.
